WHY IS THERE A NEED FOR YOUTH CIVIL ACTIVISM?
Thinking that “nothing ever changes” or “politicians are all the same” is unacceptable. Young people need to be reminded that each and every one of us can make a change in our societies.
It’s time to challenge the notion that we need to “accept the things we cannot change”, and realize that in today’s Europe we are able to “change the things we cannot accept”.
EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE
It’s rare throughout history that young people have had such opportunities to engineer their own future, as young Europeans have today.
Young people are a powerful force in every society, yet they often lack capacities to make change happen. Despite being enthusiastic about participating and contributing to the state’s public policies, many young people face challenges doing so- for example, they simply can’t financially afford to go to the big cities for meetings or demonstrations, they have transportation issues etc.
There’s no universal “one-size fits all” approach for youth participation in public policy. That’s why instead of telling young people what issues they are facing, this project will empower them to:
- 1) help identify concerns
- 2) provide knowledge and opportunities for active civil participation
- 3) offer support to clearly formulate demands and initiate action
